'How I Met Your Mother' Is The Best Show In TV History
Start writing a post

For those of you who know me, "How I Met Your Mother" is my all time favorite T.V. show, and I have watched the series more times than I can count on my ten fingers. The day that it went off of Netflix was one of the most tragic days of my life, but don't worry because I begged my parents to get Hulu. There are so many reasons why I love "HIMYM." From the enticing plot line to the easy-to-love qualities of each of the five characters and the quest of Ted's journey to find his wife, I am absolutely, completely obsessed. But even more than that, creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are literal geniuses, and the show is literally the wittiest, most creative, and most clever thing I have ever witnessed. And if you don't believe me yet, here's why.

Pretty much every gap of the show is filled

Many shows are often critiqued for their lack of continuity throughout their course, with many plot lines and character's stories left unfinished. However, with "HIMYM," that is surely not the case. Through the use of perfectly designed backdrops and the hilarious flashbacks and flash-forwards, pretty much every single story line is always cleared up. I mean, come on, look at how good the symmetry is.

Robin Sparkles

The Robin Sparkles plotline is one of the best in the series, tying into the ongoing "Slap Bet" between Marshall and Barney that occurs throughout the show. During season two, we discover that Robin, the tomboy, oftentimes emotionally distant journalist from Canada, was a teenage pop star who had two hit songs and starred on a kids T.V. show. Robin's Canadian past seems to be a recurring theme, but we all know "Let's Go To The Mall" ranks as our favorite Sparkles moment.

The jokes are so freaking creative

Enough said.

Because TedMosbyIsAJerk.Com actually exists.

In a season three episode, we learn that a woman that Barney (posing as Ted) slept with a year earlier, created a website expressing her frustration with the one-night stand. Well, the creators are so darn amazing that they actually made the real website shown in the episode, and you can see it right here.

The gang all found their doppelgängers

doppelgangers

Throughout the show, the characters discover different people that look exactly like them. How can we forget Lesbian Robin, Mustache Marshall, Stripper Lily, Mexican Wrestler Ted, and Dr. Stangel Barney?

Every single statistic used throughout the show is always with the number 83%

83% statistic

There's literally no reason behind the number except the fact that it is always used. Gotta love the randomness.

"The Bracket" episode

bracket

"The Bracket" is one of the most creative episodes of the series and perfectly encompasses what the show is all about. When a random girl who slept with Barney approaches Lily saying that she wants to ruin his life, Barney is destined to figure out who this girl is. In the spirit of March Madness, he creates a tournament-style bracket to have the gang help him figure out which of the girls he did the dirtiest. I'm not going to give away the ending, but let's just say the results were not quite what he expected...

Because there is never an inappropriate instance to give a high five

Barney Stinson is a legend and there's nothing you can say to change my mind.

Ted's children's names have a meaning behind them

kids

We learn early in the show that originally Ted wanted to name his children Luke and Leia after his profound love for the "Star Wars" series. So while Ted names his son Luke, his daughter gets an even deeper meaning. Penny, rather, is named after Ted and his wife's weird bond over their love of coins. So darn cute, right?

Because of hidden things like this

Even in the background they are so strategic. In one freaking scene!

The guest stars are hands-down amazing

katy perry

The show has so many amazing guest stars. Katy Perry, Brittney Spears, Bob Barker, Alan Thicke, and Jennifer Lopez, just to name a few.

Because you secretly learn the mother's name in the first season without even realizing it

tracey

Sorry for the spoilers, but t-gosh Ted didn't marry that stripper.

Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan, and Neil Patrick Harris's real-life husbands all appeared on the show more than once

fam

We love a good family show.

The ending, while heartbreaking, truly makes the show come full circle

mother

The show's ending has been greatly criticized for upsetting and disappointing fans. I promise to not give it away, but it was definitely a shock to me as well. However, I most definitely believe that it really just ties the whole show together and truly encompasses the essence of the entire series. And if you still don't like it, Bays and Thomas made an alternate ending to keep all fans happy.

And yes, Ted indeed did find his Shellfish lady

Never underestimate the power of what seems like an innocent plotline. There is seriously nothing as romantic and cheesy as a good love story like the one portrayed in this show. Ted went through a lot of women, but the one he ended up with in the end is a girl that is just so meant for him. And even in season five, the creators were able to work in something that would tie into the series ending.

"How I Met Your Mother" is truly something special. These are just some examples of why the show is so great, but it still doesn't do it justice. There is no other show I have watched where I've felt so connected to the characters, the storyline, and everything in between. And the fact that pretty much every detail in the show is perfectly lined up and crafted to make it all the better. I have successfully convinced many friends to watch it, so will you be the next? Thanks, "HIMYM," for always providing me with a good laugh, cry, and journey to follow along with.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
