In one last presentation given in my Communication, Spirituality, and Service class, my classmates gave a presentation on being aware of where many of our slave made products come from. In their presentation they included a site which you are able to take an inventory of all the products you own/consume, and they will give you a rough estimate on how many slaves work to make your products.
This survey if you will is part of a much larger movement called Made in a Free World. Made in a free world's mission is to address the problem of global slavery in a multifaceted manner, primarily directed towards getting businesses to use clean supply chains and also protecting children from being taken as slaves.
They also take the approach of advocating for an inclusive world view that the issue of slavery is not and issue of us and them but is a problem for all of us to consider. There's a number of different ways to get involved which can be found on their website.
I know this piece has been short, and intentionally so. From here on, I encourage everyone to their website, take the survey, and perhaps look at other ways in which you can get involved.
