How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? For years people, have tested this question through many experiments. Either scientific experiments with a licking machine or the basic method by just using their own tongue. I have decided to test it by just the basic method.
I acquired a Tootsie Pop and downloaded a counter app so I didn’t lose count during the experiment. I tried to make it a controlled experiment but I learned quickly that my tongue would dry out easily. Though every lick was not the same I ended up getting to the center with 311 licks.
Upon comparing my result with others on the internet I have found that the numbers are inconclusive. Results ranged from 100-600 licks. Many factors come into play with saliva amount to how thick is the lollipop to get a single correct answer. “The world may never know!”
