Being the new girl can be tough, especially when you’ve transferred schools.
You’re thrown into a new environment with no friends, no knowledge about the place you’re in, and nothing to keep you sane except the occasional Netflix binge.
Everyone around you has already found their cliques and niches - nobody’s looking to add a plus one to their already three musketeers. However, when you finally do make friends, you constantly feel anxiety over the idea of not going to something with them, or doing something without them, and them leaving you behind.
You feel like an animal in a cage, because everyone knows you’re the odd one out. They recognize that they don’t recognize you, and they aren’t quite sure if you’re worth getting to know yet.
And even though you’ve already done the whole ‘first year of college thing’, you still can’t get over the fact about how much you miss home.
Then there’s the boy complications. Maybe last year you were in a relationship, maybe you’ve always been single, or maybe you find yourself in a new relationship - either way it’s a whole other part of left field.
If you’re the only single one in the friend group, you aren’t exactly sure how to go about meeting new guys - especially since you’re the new girl.
But maybe you’re one of the taken ones. Trying to figure out how to balance a relationship on top of a new school, new friends, and a new job, can be tough. You just have to push through it.
Being the new girl isn’t always easy - but most of the time, it’s worth it. You get to meet new friends, explore new places, and most importantly, find more of yourself.
It will be tough at times, and sometimes you may not feel like you want to continue, but trust me, it’s worth it. Sometimes traveling and taking the leap is exactly the push you need to find your balance.
So no matter how tough it may get, or how lonely it may start out, always remember that everybody around you had to take a turn being the new girl (or guy) at one point or another.
