I think we can all agree that "feels like -3 degrees" is not the way to start a weekday.
Brace yourselves: the temperatures this week are awful. For once, Charlottesville has not decided to start out at 20 and end at 55 degrees. With the highest high a sweltering 36 degrees and lows ranging from 19 to 3 degrees, here's how to best deal with our lovely Charlottesville weather.
Dressing appropriately is a must. Do not follow the yak-famous guy who wears a short sleeved shirt and gloves. Don't get me wrong — I'm definitely wearing gloves; but personally, I plan on wearing long-sleeved shirts under a sweatshirt under a vest under my coat. I'm also wearing a scarf. My nose always gets super cold, and scarves are great to hold against your face since no one wants to look like they're about to rob a bank. If you have an under layer like a thermal shirt, I highly recommend it for this week.
Beyond clothes, never underestimate the power of hot liquids. Hot tea and soup can make a huge difference. You can take it in your backpack and heat it up in any of the libraries. (Sadly no soup cart to go with the dumpling one this week.)
When you get home, baking is a great way to heat up your apartment, as well as an excuse to bake tons of cookies (and eat some of the dough, of course).
