Gloria Steinem and Madeleine Albright
have been a great representation of the feminism for more years than I have been alive. However, similar to all eras, there must be a stopping point.Gloria Steinem has said before that women become more radical has they get older. If her way of being radical is making a fool of herself and her movement on national television then she might want to pass the torch already.
Her comments were ignorant, overgeneralizing and dead wrong. Her comments were no better than most of the comments she has spent her life trying to fight. Assuming that female Bernie Sanders supporters were because that is “where the boys are” is basically saying women can’t produce their own political opinion. I don’t consider myself a radical feminist but even I can see the mockery you are making of it.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Madeleine Albright had good intentions with comments at Hillary Clinton’s rally. Nonetheless her comments may have led to the Clintons' presidential dreams going straight to hell. By saying “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’thelp each other,” Albright made it clear that she thought, if you're a woman, you have to vote for Clinton. If you don’t, you are betraying all women. The exit polls in New Hampshire suggest that Albright’s comments may have caused Clinton to miss out on the vote of middle-aged and younger women.
Bernie Sanders has been keeping silent on the matter. His wife, on the other hand, has spoken out about Albright’s comments calling them “unfortunate and disturbing." I guess Albright’s words struck a chord with Dr. Jane Sanders because, you know, being his wife means she’s going straight to hell. Actually in Albright’s eyes, Dr. Sanders must be the bride of the devil.
