It’s quite a complex question, I know; however, it’s a serious one. Google “best Instagram posts” and people share their thoughts on how to get more followers overnight, and they post photos to use as inspiration so you can basically copy. Totally original, right? It really isn’t as easy as just taking a picture and putting it on Instagram. The essence of all good Instagram posts start with the setup, the pre-planning, the transition into a nice filter and frame, and finally, to top it all off - the moment when you know you’ve hit the 100 hundred likes mark - the caption. So you see, Instagram is not as easy as one, two, three. Oh no, it takes more than that.
One does not take a picture just to have as a nice picture. I mean, maybe, but eventually it makes its way to social media. When thinking about a great Instagram you must think about what is relatable, what people like, if you can even add a white frame and the perfect hashtags. Once that’s settled, and you take different photos in various angles, poses and lighting, you then go through each photo trying to find the best. Once you have chosen the perfect picture you open a new app to pick the perfect filter. Juno can brighten up a photo but Willow adds a classic black and white look but of course, Nashville is cool too. Every photo app, including Instagram, has a thousand different options. I know I’m not the only one saving a bunch of different versions and asking my friends which one they like best.
After the filter is chosen - which is truly crucial to the photo - you choose a frame. It seems like every page I visit on Instagram has inches apart from the next photo because of that little white (sometimes black) frame. It really doesn’t do that much to enhance your photo, but I find myself not being able to post a picture without a frame.
Finally, we have arrived at the caption. I used to not care. High school freshman me posted it like it was a Facebook post, “Day at the mall. Had soooo much fun shopping.” (I have since deleted all of those photos.) However, now I’m learning someone can like your photo just based off of the caption alone. Being funny, cute and creative in your captions will do worlds for the amount of likes you get.
Let’s face it. Who actually takes a picture to put in a frame (that’s not white) anymore? Who takes a photo to “capture the moment” or put in a scrapbook? I say people take pictures only to put on Instagram, and how many likes you get basically decides your ranking in life. But seriously, people are so focused on the perfect Instagram post that they lose the feeling of actually being in the moment. Next time you go to the beach, take a pretty picture of the ocean then put your phone away.
Post it later, add Ludwig filter - with your location of course - and let the notifications roll in.
