How To Defeat Homesickness

While for some people it is really easy to get up and leave their hometown, others come to college with a fear of change. Homesickness is not only normal but its pretty common throughout all college students. Homesickness doesn't always mean missing your literal home, it includes just missing your parents, friends and way of life. The great thing about college is that there are so many ways to stay busy and not get homesick! Join clubs, befriend your roommates and suite mates and just make the best of all it!

Stay busy.

I can't stress how important it is to keep yourself busy in college. Many college students already call it quits once class it out but getting involved makes a huge difference emotionally and physically. Making new friends in college will not only make you feel less alone by keeping you occupied that those homesick feeling won't hit so hard. Join a club, greek life, ministry or try something completely out of your comfort zone; all these things is a great way to get involved to avoid homesickness. From all the fiends and connections I made, it was really easy to make college feel like a new home to me, I had people to keep me busy and to help me to do better in school. Staying busy can not only give you a great support system but can help you cope with feeling homesick.

Stay Connected.

Call your parents. I promise they miss you so much more than you miss them and hearing your voice would make their week. Don't forget to text or talk to your siblings as well! As much ad they might not admit it they miss you a lot. Many times students miss their old friends or certain routines of their life back home. Most students I know take the time to go visit their friends and to help relieve that homesick feeling. Its really important to keep up with some of your old friends as is it is really interesting to hear how their college life turns out and honestly it helps to have someone who get the homesick feeling who came where you came from. Staying connected means visiting. Go home once in awhile to see your parents, or meet halfway. I love going back home every now and then to see how everyone in my family is doing. It is very important to stay close to all your families and friends while your in college because they are the people who will always have your back.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
