Hands down, one of the best parts of being involved in Greek Life is getting to participating in fun events, like mixers and theme parties. BUT, there is one special weekend that always sticks out to me. It’s Dad's Weekend!
After participating in several Dad's Weekends, here are some tips to make sure that you have the best possible weekend with your dad.
1. Introduce Him to Everyone
Dad's Weekend is the perfect opportunity for you to introduce your dad to all your friends at school. Not only will your friends be excited to meet your dad, your dad will absolutely love it.
2. Take Him to Your Favorite Spots On Campus
Do you love Mac and Joe's? Is your favorite restaurant Sushi Nara? Take your dad! Not only will he get to see what you do on your weekends, but you also get to have a (free) great meal to catch up over.
3. Take Tons of Pictures
This is key for a great Dad's Weekend. Not only can you send them to your mom so that she knows you’re still alive, but the pictures you take during Dad's weekend will help you remember it years later. Plus, they make a great Christmas gift for your dad’s office.
4. Go to the Planned Events (or at least try)
This year my sorority planned a canoeing event for all the dads and daughters. My dad and I intended to be there, but we ended up getting lost and found ourselves in someone’s driveway in Indiana. Besides giving me a funny story that would probably only happen to me, going to the planned Dad's Weekend events gives you a chance to mingle with all your sisters, meet their dads, and have fun.
5. Order the Apparel
First of all, you get the perfect opportunity to take a funny picture of you wearing the same outfit as your dad. But when all your sisters are wearing it around campus you’re going to wish you had one. So, buy the t-shirt, no one likes having FOMO.
So, when your dad comes to visit you for Dad's Weekend make sure that you keep these tips in mind. If you do, you are sure to have a great weekend with your dad, and have the pictures and the t-shirt to prove it!
