To all those who think that being in a sorority or fraternity in college will make your experience the best, that is not entirely true. Not being in Greek life can be as fun as being in one with the right friends by your side.

In college, finding the right group of friends can be tricky, but when you find it, it can be the best feeling in the world. I remember my first day of college and how scared I was that I wasn’t going to make friends. Once I started going to classes, and meeting new and fun people or going out to parties, that all changed.

Friend groups come more quickly than you think when you find the right people—those who enjoy what you listen to and have hobbies similar to yours. True friends are the ones who stay when you mess up and, when you need them, they are there by your side.

College is the time in your life when you can change and make yourself the person you want to be. You can reinvent yourself from the person you used to be in high school to the person you want others to see and for others to be around. When you go off to college, that is the time you find out who you truly are and mature into the person you are going to show off to the world. Your friends are there to help you through your high and low points, no matter what the situation is, because you know you can truly rely on them.

Friends say they are there forever, but the ones who always stay are the ones we can count on for a lifetime.
