In case you missed it, Emma Watson has been appointed as the U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador and recently addressed the U.N. to promote feminism. She was dressed impeccably as always, but it became clear as soon as she opened her mouth that her fashion-sense is far outweighed by her intelligence.
She delivered an excellent argument for feminism, called for men and women to join the campaign she is launching, HeforShe, and received a standing ovation from the U.N. Even though she is still swimming in cash from Harry Potter and countless campaigns she gets because she's stunningly beautiful (girl crush), Emma chose to get a degree in English literature from Brown University. Basically, Hermione Granger is intelligent, beautiful and ballsy.
Here’s a review of her speech and a full video attached. I promise it is worth the time.

Hayden Panettiere
The controversial and headstrong pop star that Hayden Panettiere plays on Nashville is no match for the actress’s true character. She plays a stubborn, irrational, and confrontational singer on television, but is an extremely humble and passionate activist in reality.
Hayden supports dozens of charities and is a huge animal lover. She is particularly interested in campaigns to save marine animals, especially whales and orcas. She has donated her own clothing and memorabilia to charitable auctions to benefit Save the Whales and Save the Whales Again.
Hayden supports Ronald McDonald House Charities and is a member of their celebrity board. She received the “Compassion in Action” Award from PETA after she fought against Japanese fisherman in an effort to stop the dolphin hunt. Hayden may only care about men and money on TV, but this bomb-shell is all about giving back.
Part of this altercation was covered in the documentary, The Cove. Here’s a trailer.

Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie has proven that she is more than the seductive women she plays in blockbuster films. She is another celebrity familiar with the U.N., as she proudly holds the position of Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
Her role in Tomb Raider and experiences in Cambodia sparked her humanitarianism. Angelina is a passionate advocate for refugees. She has traveled all over the world, but most frequently to Africa, to deliver donations, console victims and help restore lives of impoverished people.
The Jolie-Pitt Foundation advocates the protection of wildlife, conservation of natural resources, and an end to extreme poverty. Of the Jolie-Pitt children, three are biological and three were adopted from poverty-stricken nations. Angelina Jolie’s dedication to refugee support and an end to poverty has been well-publicized and has created a greater awareness for the causes.
Here’s an article from when Angelina flew under the radar to help the earthquake victims in Haiti.

So can we start focusing on these strong, influential women in pop culture who still rock the runway instead of paying attention to Kim Kardashian and her contoured-selfies?
