With the recent events that have unfolded lately, I am fearful for the world, especially my future home of Orlando and where it is headed. This past week, Orlando has suffered three tragedies, and I am fearful for the future of my future home. I have traveled to Orlando over the 21 years of my life, and I never thought that something to the magnitude of the mass shooting that occurred at the nightclub Pulse would happen. Orlando to me is the happiest place on earth, not just because of Walt Disney World, but because of the happiness that it brings to those that live in or visit it. Orlando to me was home, and now I am not so sure about that. It wasn’t until I saw the overwhelming amount of support that bounced Orlando back and resonated with the entire United States.
People from all across the world were there to support Orlando, and I am there too. Orlando isn’t just a place; its home. Those that were affected by the tragedies that unfolded, I want you to know that there is an outstanding number of those that are here to support you every step of the way. You are not alone, and I don’t want you to live in fear of the future. This is the moment where we stand up and fight for what is right and not live in oppression or fear. Orlando and other states have shown that in light of tragedy, there is an overwhelming amount of positivity that has radiated like the sun in Florida after the tragedies have unfolded earlier this past week. Positivity is what keeps us mindful of the future and not living in fear. The biggest thing to what is showing the light at the end of the tunnel is hope.
Hope is how we establish our feelings for a desired outcome, and if we take the right steps they are achievable. Hope is the optimistic way of thinking about the future and having the expectation of positive events. I know that those that have lived in Orlando for countless years probably feel that Orlando isn’t safe anymore for friends, family, and the general public. The right precautions need to be put into effect to help the people of Orlando and the people of the world to feel safe once again. We can’t live in fear for the rest of our lives. We need to take a stand for our future. These tragedies will never be forgotten, and those affected will still live with heartache that can never be fulfilled for who they lost. Loss is the feeling that leaves you empty, but there is something that helps, which I talked about before; which is hope. Hope can help fill that emptiness inside of you and brings positivity and light, even in the darkest of times. Nothing can express the emotions that have been expressed this week and my heart aches for those that were affected. Just remember that you are supported and loved by many. We Are Orlando.
