Homesick At Home: A College Student's Thoughts

"There's a time and place for everything, and it's called college."

Everyone gets homesick at one point or another in their lives. Many experience homesickness during their college years, mostly in the first semester of being away from home. However, now it is summer and the feeling of being homesick is reversed; you miss your college home.

If you are at the right college, you will quickly find reasons and ways to make that small town your home. It's where your friends are, your favorite hang out spots are, and there's always something to do. If you do not miss your college town when you go home for the summer you might be at the wrong school.

College is a time for young adults to find who they are and where they belong in the world before entering into it. It is the last place where we are allowed to limit the responsibilities we will soon carry in the real world. We are supposed to enjoy ourselves and enjoy being young.

College is a time to stay up until 3 a.m. with your best friends driving around screaming the songs of your childhood because in those moments nothing else matters. When you are home for the summer, that is a lot harder to do because your friends are not one mile down the road or three doors down the hall.

"There is a time and place for everything, and it's called college."

Bill Cosby said this, and he is right. When you are in the right place, there are so many opportunities to take, room for mistakes to be made, and room for more friendships and memories that we know what to do with.

It is hard to leave those friends and fun times behind for three long months, but we know when we make it back we will be welcomed with open arms to the crazy place we call college.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
