Coming to college I knew that I was going to have to work a lot harder to make time for workouts. I’d heard horror stories about the “Freshman 15.” Everyone warned me about the stress, junk food, drinking, and lack of sleep I would experience my freshman year, and I was especially worried about the small dorm I would be sharing with my roommate.
Luckily, I found several workout videos that kept me on my toes and feeling healthy throughout freshman year and into this year in my apartment. Here, I have ranked the top nine free apartment-friendly workouts.
1. 30-Minute Selena Gomez Workout for Flat Abs and Toned Legs
Every time I do this workout, I die within the first 40 seconds of squats. That being said, it is definitely an effective workout for small spaces, and I could easily do it in our living room. Fun fact: the lady leading the workout, Amy Rosoff Davis, is Selena Gomez's real-life trainer, and she has also trained Emma Watson in the past!
2. Blogilates' Butt Lift + Ab Chisel | Apartment Friendly Workout
Casey Ho, better known as blogilates, got me through freshman year. If you can tolerate her over-enthusiastic attitude (I don't know how anyone can be that happy while doing leg lifts), this workout in particular targets and isolates butt and ab muscles.
3. Ultimate HIIT Workout for People Who Get Bored Easily - Fat Burning HIIT Cardio Workout
If you base your workouts off of time as opposed to reps, this
4. The Best Victoria Secret Ab Workout
This workout comes with some built-in motivation. How could you not aspire to have Karlie Kloss's toned abs? This video helps you to create long, lean muscles. That being said, don't get me started on the unrealistic body expectations VS models give you. There's a thin line for this motivation, but that's an argument for a different article.
5. Love Your Body Cardio Abs Workout With Karena!
Speaking of body image, best friends Karena and Katrina run a workout program called "Tone It Up" that promotes positive body within workouts. Follow this workout to increase your metabolism and positivity!
6. Hannah Durbin's Full Body Workout
As a student at Elon University, I am proud to feature "Healthy Happy Hannah," a fellow student here at Elon who overcame her eating disorder and inspires people every day to live a healthy lifestyle. This workout gets your heart rate up quickly and is so easy to complete even if you're restricted to a crazy tiny dorm-sized space.
7. Kayla Itsines Inspired Abs| At Home Bikini Body Guide Workout
If you've ever seen the hashtag #BBG, you may have asked yourself what the heck does that stand for? Well, Kayla Itsines's "Bikini Body Guide" program that has 3 million followers and encourages healthy weight loss and fitness. This workout, although not directly from Kayla, impersonates her at-home ab workout for a toned look so that you can join her #BBGcommunity.

In this workout, fitness guru Emily Skye will walk you through a quick workout that you can do in your dorm, apartment, outside, in the gym, even on your way to class!
