The holidays are approaching, and maybe more quickly than some hope because wasn’t it just summer like 2 days ago? The weather is changing, the leaves are finally Instagram worthy, and the classic red cups are revealed at Starbucks. We had Halloween to which everyone either dressed up as a cat or Harley Quinn I feel like. The ghoulish parties were a hit because they went on all weekend before it was actually Halloween day. To say the least, it was a spooky holiday and I was sad to see it go.
Next up was the holiday where it is acceptable to eat extravagant amounts of food. Thanksgiving is such a happy time because who isn’t happy when they are eating? Waking up in my parent’s house filled with the smells of dressing, or stuffing for you Northerners, and pecan pie. I knew that I was needing to wear my most loose fitting pair of pants so by the end of the day they weren’t loose fitting anymore. Everyone loves to have multiple Thanksgivings so you pretty much never have to worry about feeding yourself for almost an entire week because you have leftovers galore after your families Thanksgiving, your boyfriend’s families Thanksgiving, your great aunt’s Thanksgiving, and so on until you literally can’t eat anymore or you will turn into a turkey.
Finally, after the food coma has worn off, you realize that in less than month is the beloved Christmas season. My ultimate favorite holiday. The spirit, the cheer, just everything about it. I look forward every year to waking up and spending quality time with the people I love most in the world. To me, I don’t see how someone can’t love Christmas. I love to give to people and knowing that I have the chance to make someone’s holiday season is what I love. It’s also just a time to bundle up like a burrito and watch Netflix for days, but from experience that is not highly recommended…anyway, the next best thing is in store.
New Years. Everyone makes those resolutions that they stick with for 2 weeks then give up but really who can blame them. Don’t even act like you haven’t done it. I see all the cutesy couples kissing at midnight and part of me gags and the other envies. After I get passed the watching mini make-out session part of me wishes someone would kiss me at midnight because it supposedly brings a year of luck in love. Isn’t that the American dream right their folks. I’ll be busy looking at my watch until it says 12:01 A.M. so I can finally kiss 2016 goodbye. Oh the holiday season, so merry and bright.
