A long time, in a galaxy far far away, families around the world begin to prepare for the holiday season. Parents rush to the stores to buy their kids what they want. And kids are kept in line with the fear of a fat white guy watching them at night (I just had to write a five-page philosophy paper on Santa's existence, I'm a little salty). And Disney is about to deliver the greatest gift of 2017 to the world... STAR WARS. If you need a minute to contain the mental orgasm your inner nerd just had, go right ahead and chill. Since the holidays are upon us, I found it appropriate to bring the two together for an epic listicle for the holiday season.
1. When you get home from college
Your family is going to turn into your biggest hype squad as soon as you walk in the door.
2. When you start seeing the holiday decorations go up
It's that time of year... go out and enjoy it!
3. When you procrastinate on shopping and your friends say you won't get it done
Chug some coffee and get ready for a fun-filled day of rushing around town and praying you find everything.
4. When your siblings ask what they got for Christmas
Prepare for a barrage of questions that makes you wonder how your parents tolerated you this time of year when you were little.
5. When someone says Santa doesn't exist
There's no room for liars this holiday season...
6. When you're waiting for your parents to wake up Christmas morning
Yeah... everyone's inner creeper comes out that morning.
7. When you got everything you wanted
Shoutout to all the parents who bust their asses every year to make sure their kids get great gifts!
8. When you try to hide from all your relatives
Take it from someone who goes to two Christmas's every year, sometimes you need a second to hide out from the family.
9. When your family starts asking about school
They can smell from a mile away... may I suggest running away and repeating the eighth list item?
10. When your family starts debating politics and you're about to step in
Oh yeah... it's about to go down. Grab your popcorn ladies and gentlemen, someone's about to get offended.
11. When you remember the true meaning of the holidays
Your family is what makes the holidays special, never forget that.
We as Americans tend to forget the meaning of the holidays. We get caught up in materialism and forget that as long as you have your loved ones around, nothing else matters. Happy holidays to all my guys, gals, and non-binary pals!
