Ahh yes, December has arrived and the pressure to buy gifts for friends and loved ones is at its peak. We all want to get the right gifts for everyone in our lives. Sometimes it feels like you have to spend your entire savings during the holiday season to make everyone happy, but you’d be surprised with how far a little gift can go. Here are five different places that you can gift shop while not emptying your bank account.

1. Etsy

This is the perfect place to find unique and completely custom gifts that will *most likely* not hurt your bank account! Most of the items are priced very reasonably for both labor and supplies cost. If you find something you really like and can’t afford the asking price, Etsy is also a great place for some creative inspiration. Make something yourself!

2. The Urban Outfitters Gift Section

Although UO can be a bit expensive, their gift guide has some of the most affordable and adorable little gifts. There is a very diverse selection and they even have it sectioned into “Gifts for Her” and “Gifts for Him” if you have a specific someone in mind! Also, don’t forget to check out the $25 and under tab — it’s worth it!

3. Uncommon Goods

This website has a load of whacky yet entertaining items for very affordable prices! This is a great place to look for presents for family members of all ages, they have something for everyone!

4. Modcloth

Another great website with tons of perfect little gifts for both family and friends. Whether you are looking for something funny or useful there are tons of modern gifts that you can’t get anywhere else for a better price.

5. Barnes and Noble


Although you may be thinking they only have books and art supplies, you are wrong! You can find tons of nifty little gifts that are themed after your favorite movies or stories. There are also a ton of cute little desktop items to spice up your friends and family’s work day! Definitely worth a look!

I hope this list is beneficial to all of my fellow college students out there. Remember, a gift doesn’t have to be expensive to be special!
