The topic of abortion is one of the most sensitive and provoking things that could possibly come up in a debate. So, what really is abortion? Republicans might say it is the murder of an unborn person... Democrats might say it is an opportunity for a female to reverse a mistake. But the true definition of abortion is: the termination of a human pregnancy, resulting in the death of the embryo or fetus. I wouldn't say that I, personally, fall into the category of republican or democrat; I am a registered Independent. However, with that being said, I do take the political right wing side on the topic of abortion. I am pro-life.
You'll hear common quotes such as "It's my body and I have the right to do what I want with it," from pro-choice woman or supporters. To me, that is an extremely infuriating and ridiculous statement. We all know what sex was particularly created for and what could be the possible result of it. So when you take that information and throw it out the window, just so you can have a good time, and then happen to get pregnant, you can't just say, "oops" and end the life of a human being before it even gets a chance to start. The reality is, it is not your body anymore. You are now sharing your body with a life that you created.
If you're Hilary Clinton, then of course you believe an unborn child has no constitutional rights. A really stunning and sickening story to go along with that claim is the one of Gabriel Vega, a 20-year-old man from Albany, New York who, back in 2014, violently murdered his 19-year-old girlfriend then set the house of the murder scene on fire to dispose of the evidence. The 19-year-old girl was also pregnant with their child and he was unhappy about it. Anyone would think that Vega would be convicted of double homicide and would serve life in prison. But skip to August 25th, 2016. Vega was only given a 50 year sentence for manslaughter because of abortion loopholes in the New York State laws, that was the absolute max time he could receive. That baby, who was already given a name by her mother, was murdered and given no constitutional rights. Just like Hilary Clinton wants! Is she really the lesser of two evils, like you all seem to believe, considering the recent poll numbers?
With all that being said, I also believe planned parenthood should continue to receive government funding. Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit organization that provides free or reduced price health services to people, specifically woman. Planned Parenthood offers free STD testing, woman health services, birth control, condoms, and exams to woman who may or may not have health insurance, with a "Care. No matter what" motto. However, Planned Parenthood is known for given abortions and was recently exposed in a video that shows a Planned Parenthood employee discussing a sale of the aborted human embryo. With close government monitoring and no funding given for abortions, Planned Parenthood needs government funding or hundreds of thousands of woman across the U.S will lose health care.
We all have our opinions and reasons for the way we think but when it comes to abortion, people who are pro-choice just seem desensitized. If you are pregnant by way of rape or incest, then I believe the woman should have the choice of abortion or not. If you are pregnant and your life is in jeopardy because of your pregnancy, then I believe the woman should have the choice of abortion or not. However if you are pregnant and want to abort your child because you cannot afford it or did not plan to become pregnant, etc then abortion cannot and should not be an option for you. There are way too many options for adoption and government assistance for abortion to be considered. Responsibility is key!
