A Highlight Reel Of 2015

In the ever-growing quest to reinvent ourselves for the new year, I decided to take a look back at the things that happened in 2015. I figured that reminding myself of the best parts of 2015 would give me some inspiration for 2016, or at least take the burden of taking hi-res pictures of Pluto off of my to-do list. Here are the most recent advancements in human history (and memes).

1. 'Friends' was released on Netflix

2. This Vine from "not even emily" was posted and became my favorite thing ever.

3. AHS star Jamie Brewer became the first model with Down Syndrome to walk the runway at New York Fashion Week.

4. Two llamas ran loose in Phoenix, Arizona.

5. The Dress that divided the world.

6. Zayn Malik left One Direction.

7. Russian President Vladimir Putin outlawed memes of celebrities (including himself).

8. The price of crude oil plummeted to the lowest it has been in a decade, saving the average American household $700 on gas.

9. Same-sex marriage became legalized in the United States.

10. NASA's New Horizons spacecraft relayed the best images we have of Pluto.

11. Caitlyn Jenner graced the cover of 'Vanity Fair' and provided a beacon of hope for trans people everywhere.

12. Cuba and the US restored diplomatic relations, leading to the best relationship the countries have had in over 50 years.

13. I discovered this video of a pug.

14. Findings from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter provide convincing evidence that water flows intermittently on Mars.

15. Deez Nuts polls at 9% in a hypothetical race against Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

16. Myanmar held its first free election since 1990, with the National League for Democracy winning the majority of seats.

17. Adele released her newest album, "25."

18. Over 200 countries signed a landmark climate change agreement in Paris in order to reduce fossil fuel emissions.

19. Space X launched and recovered the first reusable rocket, introducing the possibility of a dramatically reduced space-cost and making the goal of a human presence on Mars more likely.

20. Saudi Arabia elected women to hold office for the first time.

21. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" became the highest grossing movie in the franchise and broke industry records.

I hope you enjoyed your 2015! I certainly did. However, I am looking forward to 2016 kicking its ass.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
