Mexico, Europe, Florida, Colorado, where are you itching to travel for less than a week and blow all of your money?

Ever think about staying home, rent free with home-cooked meals, spending time with old friends and family?

Probably not, if I'm assuming you are the modern day angsty high schooler who "can't wait to get out of this town." Am I right?

Think about this, though: as you get older, so do your parents. I know you're not particularly thinking about this concept at age 17, but once you go away to college and return home for holidays and breaks, you'll definitely notice it.

Time passes, friends grow up, and soon you will be a senior in college with nothing planned for spring break other than to sit on the couch in the living room you used to spend all of your time in when you were in high school. And I promise you, there is nothing wrong with that.

Not only are you saving a ridiculous amount of money, this is also the time to go shopping with your mom, go to breakfast with your dad, and meet up with old friends you never see while you are away.

Of course if you chose to stay at home over break you will have to face the dreaded social media feed. Or even better, turn your phone off. Leave it at home. Leave it in your room while you sit with your mom in the living room and have a nice conversation. Don't even look at Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram for a week. You'll live, I promise.

So, to the high school spring breaker, I know it seems super important to go on an erotic, alcohol-filled, sweaty trip, but it really isn't. Spending time at home with your family, catching up with old friends isn't as bad as others make it seem.

While you're young its important to spread your wings and experience new places, but it is also important to be grateful for the life and opportunities your caregivers have provided for you. I know when you're young your urge to get away is overpowering, but once you're a senior in college trying to decide what to do with the rest of your life, simplicity is key.

Spring break might be a good time to do some spring cleaning. Organize your closet, do some yoga, get a massage, anything in order to reach a zen state of mind for some time before having to snap back to reality.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
