Hi friend,
While I've tagged you in many cheesy articles about friendship and have sent you loads of text messages thanking you for being my friend, I feel like I can never overstate my appreciation for you.
You have been such an important presence in my life, and (while it's totally cheesy and terribly cliche) I can honestly say I wouldn't be the person that I am today if we hadn't met outside of Mrs. Vander Pol's class seven years ago. Your friendship has kept me afloat during some of the toughest and most emotionally draining times of my life (cough cough, high school). You've comforted me during a myriad of ugly-crying sessions; you've helped me endure the stress and confusion that comes with growing up; you've been by my side through life's ups and downs. And for all those things and more, I couldn't be more grateful.
Some (OK, a large majority) of my favorite memories are of times we've spent together. Sitting at your dining room table, eating cheese and crackers and stressing about the future. Making crepes or cake pops or cookies in your kitchen (and failing hardcore most of the time). Celebrating Eddie Redmayne's birthday with personalized cupcakes. Driving all over creation in my gigantic beast of a car. Drinking chai lattes and painting pottery, writing essays in your backyard and having embarrassing photo shoots. Eating ice cream and watching the sunset. Crying and laughing and sitting in comfortable silence. All of these experiences (and a million more) that have come along with our friendship have kept me sane in some of the most difficult times, and have revealed to me the value of having a friend you can bring your joys and pains and successes to with the assurance that you will be loved no matter what.
You are a truly lovely and wonderful human, and I admire you in more ways than I can express. Your kindness, empathy, and selflessness teach me how to love better. Your faith encourages me to pursue the heart of Jesus and dive deeper into my own faith. Your wisdom and intelligence push me to be a more reflective and thoughtful person. You are witty and genuine and caring, loving and creative.
Even though we no longer see each other every day, even though we go to different universities and have made new friends and no longer share the same experiences, our friendship is still one of the most valuable things in my life. I love you dearly, and I can't wait to do life with you for many years to come.
Much love,
Morgan
P.S. Thanks for letting me expose you to the mysterious and complicated world of pop culture. It's been a real treat. ("Are Christina Perri and Katy Perry sisters?")
