Hey! You Are Eating Flesh!

Eating flesh is a thing of the past. Kick off your dead, chemically-treated flesh boots and opt for something more lively and green! A plant-based diet will remove plaque build up found in arteries, increase metabolism, reverse diabetes and drastically drop your risk of heart disease. However, making the transition from meat to plant isn't always easy. So as someone who has been a vegetarian for almost 10 years, I have developed a list of best tasting meat alternatives to help you become a healthier and more conscious person.

1. MorningStar Farms: any of their products.

MorningStar Farms is one of the only vegan and vegetarian brand where every single product is delicious. They range from soy breakfast meats to full dinners. They're in the frozen aisle at the grocery store and can be found next to either breakfast or organic frozen goods. My favorite item from their line is their bacon strips. Make sure to pan fry until golden brown.

2. Tofurky: Surprisingly not their turkey.

Tofurky makes meat alternative options, ranging from lunch meats to full soy holiday turkeys. They even have a variety of sausage! The sausages from Tofurky work perfect for an Italian sausage sandwich, or as toppings to cheesy ravioli. They take less than five minutes to make. Be sure to have some type of crisp. If you want the sausage cut up as a topping, I would suggest cooking it in the desired form you wish to eat it to ensure consistent texture.

3. Dr. Praeger's: Super Greens Veggie Burger.

Dr. Praeger's foods are all made will real, non-GMO ingredients. They feature meatless burgers, veggie cakes and a variety of child-friendly food. My favorite meatless burger is the Super Greens Veggie Burger. Make sure to cook until browned or blackened on each side. Otherwise it will be mushy!

4. President's Choice Blue Menu: Chicken Breast.

President's Choice has recently began to incorporate vegan meat alternatives into their product line. The Blue Menu features a multitude of meats. However, I find their chicken breast to be the only alternative fit for multiple dishes. Make sure to bathe your vegetarian chicken breast in coconut oil and seasonings while it cooks.

5. Yves: Meatless Pepperoni.

Many of Yves' meatless options are amazing. Ranging from meatless burgers to sealess seafood, they have an incredible variety of great food. However, only one sits on the foodie throne: their meatless pepperoni. Yves gives you tasty tools to help build your own vegan or vegetarian pizza. They not only provide tasty food, but an exemplary way to run an environmentally ethical business, as they practice great consciousness while developing, creating and packaging their products.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
