As I walk across campus, I see people but I cannot tell who exactly I'm seeing. Someone says hi to me or is waving, but I cannot see who it is until they are very close to me. I'm driving but I can't read the sign until I'm not far from it. I can only read the board in class if I squint. These situations occur when I choose not to wear my glasses. I probably have a hat or headband on and my glasses with either one feels like too much going on near my face. A solution would be to wear contacts, but I have such dry eyes that even one-a-day contacts irritate them too much. If you are in the same boat, you understand just what I'm dealing with.
When I do wear my glasses, they are constantly smeared. I don't touch the lenses, so I really don't know how this is always happening. If it's raining, the rain drops are landing on them and if it's cold, they get foggy when I go from being outside to indoors.
As a young child, I liked the American Girl Doll, Molly, because she wore glasses. Back then I thought glasses were interesting and another accessory. (side note: Anyone else like Molly for the same reasons?) I didn't need glasses until I was in middle school. Unfortunately, when I did start wearing glasses I also had braces and my face was covered with acne. As if being a teenager isn't hard enough, I was dealing with all of that at once, but like other teenagers, I survived.
Now that I'm older, I have come to appreciate my glasses more than I used to. I also need them more than I used to. I'll let you in on a little secret, sometimes I even enjoy wearing them now.
Some say glasses make a person look more intelligent. Some people look like a totally different person when they are and are not wearing their glasses. In my opinion, some people are more attractive with their glasses than without.
To all the glasses-wearing people, what do you think? How do your glasses make you feel?
