To My Best Friend
Jessie Burdette

If you've hung around me long enough, you've probably heard me talk about my friend Siera. She's in a thousand of my photos and is usually a part of all the good stories. She's a gem of a human and a heck of a pal. This one's for you, Battiste.

I honestly don't remember the first time I met most of my college friends, but I certainly remember meeting you. I walked across the hall to introduce myself (and make a good impression with some candy, of course) and the rest is history. We discovered we have the same major and we'd be stuck with each other for the next four years. Well, we're a year and a half in and it's been quite the journey. I wasn't sure how well we'd get along at first, but I knew I was excited to have another girl with the same major so I wouldn't be alone in future classes. So far, so good!

We've had a million fun adventures and endless stories to tell our kids one day. Don't forget to tell them about Aunt Jess, okay? ;) For now, we keep on living while we're young. I'm so glad you got to come home with me a few weeks ago! You're practically a Burdette now; welcome to the fam! I'm so glad we can struggle through 8ams and Hebrew together. I don't know where I'd be without you.

I'm so proud of how far you've come since college. I may not have had the privilege of knowing you in high school, but I've already seen you grow. You've stepped out of your comfort zone, improved in your studies, and created better fellowship with people. You're gonna do great things in life.

You never leave room for a dull moment and you are the life of every party, even when you don't like it. Your love for humor and puns is basically why we're friends. (Because tilapia... hahahaha) We're way more similar than I ever thought we would be and the resemblance is uncanny. We really gotta work on NOT saying the same things at the same time. People are going to grow concerned. Well, more so than they already are.

Thank you for loving me when I'm a mess, for teaching me stuff of all kinds, and for listening when I need someone to vent to. Thank you for being willing to adventure to Walmart with me late at night, for listening to just about every kind of music we could possibly listen to, and for coffee dates and Jesus drives. Thank you for laughing at my jokes, even when they aren't funny. Thank you for letting me cry when I need to and encouraging me when necessary. Thank you for being the type of college friend that I'll love for years. I can't wait for the day when we get to watch each other succeed in our careers, get married, start a family, and eventually watch our kids become best friends.

I love you to the moon and back and I'm forever grateful for you. It's been real. It's been fun, It's been real fun.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
