Dear Khaylie,

Not a day goes by where I don't remind myself just how lucky I am to have had someone like you come into my life. You hear the words "best friend" thrown around a lot nowadays, but I can call you that with confidence because you truly embody what it means to be a best friend. You have taken the time over the years to get to know me more than anyone ever has, I can count on you to hear me out and provide me with advice whenever I need it and most importantly you know how to make me laugh until my face hurts.

You deserve nothing less than the best in life. I have never met such a supportive, fun-spirited and strong girl in my life. You haven't always been dealt the best cards, yet you never fail to make the most of every situation and put a smile on for everyone around you. You are living proof that anyone can do anything their heart desires with the right amount of passion and drive.

This year has undoubtedly been a big one for us, going from spending almost every day together to going off to different colleges. Our weekly phone calls definitely keep me sane, but even more so knowing that when we don't have time to talk, the moment we hear each others voices again it will be as if we were never apart. We have both been so incredible busy this year with school work, exams and other obligations that college has thrown our way, but I love that you are the type of friend that I don't need to talk to in order to know that you have my back.

Something that is such a first world problem, but is still a reminder to me that our friendship is so special, is the fact that unlike most people our age we often forget to take pictures together. We simply value the time we spend together so much and have such a genuinely great time together we always seem to forget to document it. All we need to make the best memories is to be together.

Surprising me by taking a bus up from New York and showing up at my dorm this year was by far the most meaningful thing anyone has other done to me. Everyone on this planet deserves a friend that would go the extra mile for them just to brighten up their day.

Your actions constantly remind me that our friendship is authentic, you make me laugh until I cry and are there for me when I cry until I laugh. When you have found that friend who makes your worst days tolerable, gets you through the most trying of times and constantly reminds you just how special you are, you know that you have found your best friend. I have certainly found mine.
