If you grew up in a small town in Indiana, you were either one of two types of people: The one who stayed forever or the one who couldn’t wait to leave. Either way, you should recognize all seven of these signs if you come from this corn-filled, fly-over state.
1. In your town, there was a church. Across the street from the church there was a bar.
2. Being from a town no one has ever heard of.
People only stop at your exit to fill up on gas unless, of course, they happen to be one of the 900 people that live off that exit.
3. "Drive your farm machinery to school day" was a real thing.
Your high school most likely had “Drive your tractor to school day,” and you probably participated.
4. Everybody knows everybody.
Your neighbor’s cousin’s brother already knows you got engaged yesterday, because everyone knows everyone else’s business all the time. It's a small place; there's no hiding secrets and no avoiding people you don't want to see.
5. The State Fair is a religious experience.
‘Nuff said.
6. Brown County in the fall.
Again, ‘nuff said.
7. Cornfields and the Signs movie
You were never frightened by that Mel Brooks movie, "Signs," because you’ve lived by cornfields your whole life and you just don’t understand why city kids are so scared of a little corn.
