Summer Time: Every college student's worst nightmare. We may love the break from studying and the too hot/too cold classrooms, but we miss our college town, our friends and the atmosphere of "there's always something to do" . Now that we're out for the summer and back in our hometowns and childhood homes, there's one thing we're certain about: We're Bored.
So! To help you fight the inevitable, I've come up with a few solutions to chase away the boredom other than re-watching the show you just binge watched on Netflix.
1. Get A Job
Okay maybe not everyone's first choice of fun thing to do in the summer, but we have to start preparing for real life anyway, and a job is a great way to start! Look around, find something that interests you, and apply! On the downside you'll have to give up some of free time, but on the up side, you'll make bank!(or you know, minimum wage).
2. Find A New Workout
Or maybe just start working out! In the memorable words of Elle Woods "Exercise gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy." Not only with exercising give you something to do, but you'll gain a rockin' healthy bod in the process.
3. Get Outside
Grab a group of friends and go find a never explored hiking trail to conquer or set up some enos by the river. Go exploring! Find a pond to go swimming in or go kayaking on the lake, you might even get a good tan in the process.
4. Find A New Show
Okay, so sometimes Netflix really is the answer. In a world where How I Met Your Mother, Parks and Rec, Orange is the New Black and House of Cards are just one click away, hours of escaping reality awaits you. And for those of you who have maybe exhausted the Netflix route, I hope you still remember your ex's HBO password because Game of Thrones may be one of the greatest ways to spend your time. And if you finish that, Sex and the City, Entourage, Veep and more are there for your viewing pleasure!
5. Take a Road Trip
Grab some snacks and some friends and hit the road. Go visit a college friend in another state, take a trip to somewhere yall have never been before, or just get out and drive! Jamming to some good music, driving with the windows down and laughing with your best friends is basically a poster card for summertime fun.
6. Read A Good Book
Reading is one of the best ways to pass the time, even when you're not bored. Try reading a book while trying to tan or just curling up in your bed while it's raining outside. Starting a book club with your family or friends is a great way to spend time together and maybe even find your new favorite book in the process!
