It's that time of the year again. The familiar scent of cinnamon and pine trees fill the air and twinkling lights are seen all over. Oh, and who could forget that familiar sight of sleep-deprived students cramming every last bit of information in.
That's right: 'tis the season for finals week.
All across campus, the sight of students running solely off of caffeine and two hours of sleep, as well as your usual study areas crowded with massive study groups, is the sight to see.
With the semester practically over, these last few days before the month off for holiday break is like pulling a tooth: slow and painful. There are, however, ways to make this week seem a little less chaotic: The three 'S's.'
1. STUDY WITH GROUPS:
Nobody wants to study alone because let's face it, we'll spend the entire time we set aside for studying on our phones or take a 30-minute nap that will turn into a four-hour nap. We've all done it. Studying with a group of friends or your peers in the class will allow for you all to help each other and make the tedious process of studying a little more bearable.
2. STARBUCKS:
Coffee makes the world go round — that's the saying right? Or is it money? Regardless, coffee has caffeine. Caffeine makes you stay awake and attentive. There's Starbucks on campus. Use those last dining dollars you may have to buy yourself a cup of coffee — because even if you don't need caffeine, you can reward yourself with Starbucks for studying.
3. SLEEP. SLEEP. SLEEP.
Be smart. Set yourself a bedtime and actually go to sleep. The only one responsible for you being sleep deprived is yourself. Don't be one of those students who tries to learn the material for a semester's worth of a class the night before the exam. Just go to sleep — at least if you don't know the material, you'll have a good night's rest to allow your brain function properly.
And in light of the new "Star Wars" movie hitting theaters soon:
May the Force be with you.
