How To Recover From A Heartbreak

Some tips for the brokenhearted

How To Recover From A Heartbreak

I've had my heart ripped out of my chest into a million pieces, then placed back in my body, metaphorically speaking of course. I think a lot of people can relate to heart break feeling exactly like that. So since I've been through it, I thought I would give some tips and tricks to feeling better. ^_^ Your worth so much more than you think, don't put yourself down!

1) Just Got Heartbroken, What do I do?

Well, it's really okay to cry. I know this may seem weird but it's natural to let out your feelings especially when heartbroken, sometimes it's such a shock. Of course, you don't have to do that in front of your ex-boyfriend/girlfriend, but sometimes it might just happen. I would suggest letting out that negative energy you have.

You can do that in a lot of different ways, for example, writing, or maybe even screaming into your pillow. Just get it out. This may take a while like a few weeks or even months, it really depends on the person. For me personally I cried on and off, and I didn't really talk about it to many people because of how bad it was. But there also may be people like me that have trouble and keep having to cry or keep getting those sad feelings then the next tip is for you.

2) Be Yourself!

After a breakup/heartbreak, it's important to be yourself. Do the things you like to do. Maybe avoid certain places for awhile. When I was heartbroken I didn't want to be around him because it was weird that we weren't together, and I just accepted the fact that we couldn't be friends. So I threw out a lot of the things he gave me, and just got him out of daily life.

I think it's important to do that because you want to be yourself and do your own thing, and you also don't want to have the constant reminder of that person. If you don't want to throw an item away, put it somewhere out of site and somewhere that you don't constantly look through or use, like a spare box. After a heartbreak, you don't think that you're special or no longer your own person, but with time, you will discover how great you are.

3) Have Support

Friends and family surrounding me was a big part of my recovery. Getting support after something like this is very important. My family was the first to comfort me in my heartbreak, they said things that made me smile and cheered me up as much as they could. It helps so much to have someone hold your hand and be by your side and is something that everyone needs when they're in pain.

It's great to just go out with them and talk to them and take your mind away from thinking about the person. They often revea that life is so much more than just that person. Many people tend to think of their significant other as the whole world to them, but things change. I love my friends for being there and supporting me so much. There were times I thought my life was purposeless/pointless. Being surrounded by friends gave me life and gave me new wings. They helped me be myself and become more proud of myself.

Especially after a first heartbreak, it's hard to say wether or not you'll fully recover. For me personally, I can say it's like having scars after you went through a battle and you overcame them. I'm glad that I feel somewhat healed after the experience. There're things in life that you really have to learn through experience in order to understand what decisions you should make in the future. Through this experience I learned that the person wasn't the one for me, and when you go through heartbreak you'll see that yourself.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
