We've all been through some shit, some worse than others. No matter what you're going through, whether it's a breakup, depression, or moving to a new place, healing takes time.
If you're like me, you may be at a point where you feel like you've healed completely, but then, you get a sudden wave of a few bad days and start to think that maybe you're still where you were at the start. You start to drift away from the people who care about you, and you get frustrated.
You ask yourself why you're not all okay yet. You feel like it's never going to end.
When you get into that mindset, you need to remind yourself that it's okay to have bad days. Everyone has bad days, especially when they're trying to heal.
Healing from depression is different than healing from a breakup. You realize that it will never truly be gone, but you know that you can find ways to cope, to make the bad days not so bad.
You go through years dealing with depression, waiting for the day that it will end, but it never truly does. You just get used to the feeling.
When you have the good days, you spend them thinking, "Oh, it's just a good day. It'll soon go back to normal." You think that "normal" is being depressed because, for us, that's the normal feeling.
You tell yourself that there is no "healing" because it's a life-long journey. The truth is, you can still heal, even when going through depression.
Just like depression, healing is a life-long journey. Healing takes time. It's not linear. You have your ups and downs, the days where you jump out of bed as soon as your alarm goes off. Then, there are the days where you can't get out of bed.
Depression gets into your mind and tells you that it will never be okay, that you will always feel like this. You won't always feel like this. You'll be okay. It will just take time.
