It is the halfway mark of the semester—and we’re all freaking out. Time flew by and so did our attention to close-to-due assignments. Now it’s scramble time to get our act together and save what’s left of our grades. Where did the time go? Oh yea, it went to Netflix. Here is what you need to do to get your drive back and make it through Midterms.
Study Smarter, Not Harder
There are numerous ways to do this. I recommend finding a study group or a group who at least understands the struggle. When you are on the brink of tears, it's nice to have someone to lean on and look at you like they completely understand. Also, try to study in increments. As an example, give yourself 30 minutes of studying and 10 minutes for a break. Going for a study marathon requires brain endurance, so slowly take it instead of trying to sprint the whole way.
Get Rest (If You Can)
I understand you can’t always be in bed at 9 p. m., but give yourself a couple days of brain replenishment and get a goodnight’s rest. Sleep is the one thing that college students, including myself, are willing to give up in order to keep up with assignments. We know the costs and the criticism that comes with it, but frankly we need to pass our classes. Although I sound pro-nosleep, I do recommend getting to bed at a decent time intermittently throughout the week.
Eat Moderately Healthy
Again, I don’t expect anyone to be one-hundred percent clean in their eating, especially during stress-inducing times. I get it, sometimes we have to get our meal to-go and sometimes it’s just darn good to have a burger with fries. But while you are busy, consider once in a while what you put into your stomach, preferably during the wee hours of the day. Try to get some green stuff and protein throughout the week as well as daily hydration. Water should easily become your best friend.
Get Yourself A Reward System
Yes, plan out rewards for yourself throughout the week. Or plan a big end-of-the-week reward, it’s up to you. Basically, reward yourself and your accomplishments because babe you deserve it. I honestly mean it. You might not have gotten an A on your exam or look decently human for a week, but you focused on where it counted: your education. Good for you.
