Someone once asked me, “Why do you love Disney World so much?” This person did not understand why I have a constant desire to be in Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom. My response was that all of the stress I have melts away when I’m in Fantasyland or any other part of that magical place. Disney World embodies the whole philosophy of Hakuna Matata. I have loved Disney longer than I can remember, and I grew up that way. My family and I have chosen the Disney life, and this is why.
I started loving Disney as a child, and I never grew out of it. It began with Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Lilo and Stitch, Robin Hood, and so many more. I could go on for days about these movies. They instilled many beliefs in me that I have carried with me throughout life. The kindness of the characters taught me how I should be toward others. The lessons that Disney movies have taught me throughout life are huge. One of the most memorable lessons is about Ohana because, “Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.” A lot of people that do not understand the Disney fascination assume that these animated movies are “kid movies.” They are, but they are so much more than that. Disney movies are for kids of all ages. I know I still have not truly grown up. I’m ready for a Disney movie marathon at any time.
Disney gives everyone someone to look up to. We can all relate to at least one of the characters in some aspect. Cinderella will not be controlled by someone that looks down on her and uses her. Stitch overcomes what his genetics tell him he is in order to become a great being. Merida became the first queen to rule her clan without a king. Disney characters teach us that we can overcome obstacles. We can reach the highest stars if we just believe. We may not overcome the problems we face in life the same way fairy tale characters do, but they teach us we can overcome them.
The biggest reason I choose to live the Disney life is because it lets me feel like a kid. I never wanted to grow up. I never wanted to say that I’m an adult. My roommate and I started planning a trip to Disney World recently, and I felt like a kid. I was giddy like a child is giddy about fun little things. I couldn’t stop smiling while making these plans. I realize that it is going to take planning and money, but DISNEY WORLD! It is basically the most exciting thing. I love watching new Disney movies, and visiting the Disney Store on bad days. My sister and I can spend hours in the Disney Store. The best tunes for a road trip are Disney jams. I love being a kid. Even if I am “technically” an adult. I have the most fun when Disney is involved with my life.
Disney has been a huge part of my life for as long as I have been alive. I am the college girl that has Disney stuff in her dorm room. I have chosen the Disney life because it is basically the best life. If you like to have magical days, if you enjoy happily ever afters, and if you have people worth melting for, then you should live the Disney life too. “All you need is faith, trust, and pixie dust!”
Have a magical day!
