Let's face it, the holidays are rough. Dealing with your Aunt Lisa's sloppy kisses and the condescending questions from your grandma is enough to drive anyone to drink. So rather than sucking down some terrible wine, whip up one of these cocktails to get you through every holiday party and family get together this season.

An Old Fashion Christmas

This is a stiff drink and should get you through the holiday party you are dreading the most. If you know you're going to be asked: "are you seeing anyone?" "when are you getting married?" "when are you graduating?" "what are you doing after graduation?" then this is the drink you need.

What You Need:

3 ounces of bourbon whiskey

1 ounce of cranberry simple syrup (gotta make it Christmas!)

3 shakes of Angostura bitters

Add orange peels, cranberries, and rosemary on top

Snow White Russian

Love the snow? You'll love the snow white Russian, to make it a holiday cocktail we're going to add some salted caramel flavoring. Pro tip: this drink looks like an iced latte so if you're headed to a dry holiday party, you can sneak this one in.

What You Need:

1 part Salted Caramel coffee liqueur (you can usually find this flavoring with Bailey's or Kaluha)

2 parts salted caramel vodka

1 part half and half

Add some caramel sauce to the top

Very Merry Mimosa

Mimosas are hands down my favorite drink and can get a bad reputation for only being a "morning drink". This spin on your typical mimosa can be had any time of the day, but I'll be honest if you have a Christmas morning party to get to (or want to chase your New Year's Eve hangover on New Years Day) I recommend this bad boy.

What You Need:

6 ounces of peppermint schnapps

1 bottle of champagne or prosecco

Candy Canes

Add the candy canes in after you mix the schnapps and champagne. It makes the drink look pretty and adds more pepperminty flavor!

Under the Mistletoe Margarita

My second favorite drink of all time: margs. This holiday spin on a margarita will liven you up to handle all the kids at the family holiday party, thank me later.

What You Need:

1 can (14 ounces) of coconut milk

12 ounces of tequila

8 ounces of triple sec

2 cups of ice

Top it off with mint, lime, cranberries, and sugar for the rim. Blend that sucker up and power through that family holiday party.

Holidays are hard, but cocktails don't have to be. Cheers!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
