7 Haunted Places You Should Learn About
David Campuzano

So it’s almost Halloween, and the creepiness of that night is something that can’t be ignored! I mean who can deny that ghost stories always seem to make their appearance around this time. Whether you believe it or not they are everywhere right now. Then there are the places these creepy things took place and the haunted places are what the ghosts left behind. From the really horrifying ones that send shivers down your spine to the kind of meh ones you grew up with here are a few of the creepy tinglers.

  1. Waverly Hills Sanatorium. Not only is it haunted by the thousands of patients that died there when tuberculosis was at its peak but also haunted by the Waverly nurse. She apparently hung herself leaving the place creeped out by her ghost.
  2. Axe Murder House in Iowa. It is haunted by the family who was mysteriously bludgeoned to death. The case is forever hopelessly unsolved. An entire family of about four people were mysteriously killed and their case was never solved, and you wonder why they aren’t at rest?
  3. Hotel del Salto in Colombia. Apparently this place was the place to be back in the 1920’s and 30’s because it over looked the Tequendama Falls. Of course it became contaminated but also it was the spot for many suicides. I mean who wouldn’t want to jump off a cliff into a picturesque ending?
  4. Angkor Wat, Cambodia. A beautifully constructed ancient temple and city. It was promptly abandoned and guess what? While a super popular tourist destination it is also very haunted. It’s an ancient city where slaves and workers died constructing the beautiful waterways that surrounded the city. Not to mention the theories of disease and drought that would lead to deaths all around the city. Beautifully spooky.
  5. Aokigahara, Japan. Apparently the second most beautiful place to end your own life. It is also known as the Forest of Suicides. There were at least 500 business men who took their own life in about the span of 10 years. Then in 2002 about 78 took their lives. Now the whole forest seems to be infected with the spirits because some couldn’t leave. Some people think that because of the amount of deaths in the forest the whole place has just absorbed them into itself. Creepy.
  6. The Ancient Ram Inn, England. The spot of satanic sacrifices and also a feature on Ghost Hunters it is pretty clear why this place makes the list. Needless to say, it is one creepy place. There have been instances when people have been dragged out of the bed and been left with scratches on their backs.
  7. Banff Springs Hotel in Canada. It has been reported to have several spirits ranging from the unsettled spirits of a murdered family, and then the helpful and happy bellman and bride of the ballroom. It was first built as wood structure when the Canadian Pacific Railway was completed and we all know how wood structures work out. It burned down but was rebuilt by the 1930’s.

That’s it for the creepy creeps of the haunted world. Happy Halloween be sure to visit your local haunted places!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
