I Hate Snapchat Stories

If you post the entire concert to your story, please know that I probably hate you.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Snapchat. I love being able to communicate with people through pictures throughout my day. If I see a cute puppy, I want to be able to send its adorable face to my best friend. I like to be able to open my phone and be able to see my boyfriend’s smile while I am at work. I love the idea of capturing a sunset and sending it to someone watching the same sunset, just in a different place. Snapchat is a reinvented version of texting, and it is wonderful.

Snapchat stories, on the other hand, are annoying, weird and usually useless. You never know what to expect. Sometimes people post videos of them goofing off in Wal-Mart (I can appreciate these). Other times they just post a mirror selfie because their outfit is on point. But, don’t forget about the girl who is always indirectly referring to her crush (sweetheart, get over him. He doesn’t care). Oh, and there are the people who post the entire freaking concert to their story (please know that I hate you for that). No matter what it is, in no way, shape or form is this benefitting me. It really only wastes my time and, quite frankly, probably yours, too. What great moments can we really fit into ten seconds? What if you miss the best part of the story because it happens after ten seconds? Is it worth saying if you wouldn’t want to say it forever?

Don’t worry, I post pointless things to my story as well. I’m 110% guilty of the exact problem I am ranting about. But, at least if I realize how ridiculous this looks, I will think twice about posting it. As I do with all my social media. Shouldn’t we all?

So, that’s why I really hate to watch your Snapchat story. It’s not because I hate social media or because I refuse to accept the new generation of technology and teenagers. It’s because I do not need ten seconds of nonsense to continue throughout my day. Honestly, I probably only think negative thoughts while watching your story, and I don’t want to view you-in-real-life that way. With that being said, please don’t get offended when I don’t watch your Snapchat story. If I need to see it because it pertains to just me, please feel free to send it to me individually.

Rant over…for now.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
