Dear Hardworking Girl,
You are not Superwoman. No matter how much you think you could handle, sometimes you need to take a step back and realize when you're taking on too much. No one wants to be the one to quit, but sometimes taking a break is what is necessary to get work done effectively.
Practice the following five things to help you accomplish this:
1. Stop Saying YES To Everything.
In order to please everyone you try to say yes and be nice not knowing that you're hurting yourself in the long run. Saying YES to everything adds pressure and there is this constant need to not let anyone down and you forget that you have to take care of yourself too. Taking on too much can be overwhelming and girl, know that it's okay to say no.
2. Take On What You Can Handle.
Look, everyone knows you have the power to take on whatever you put your mind too, but don't let that make you feel like you have to take on everything at once. Learn to break things up. If there is twenty things you need to do, do ten today and ten at another time.
3. Balance...It's All About Balance.
Taking on too much at times makes you forget that there is a life to live. Know that everyone is proud of the work you've done but they miss you too. Take a day to hangout with friends and family, the work will still be there so stressing it won't produce the right outcome. Work is good, but save room for play time.
4. Sleepless Nights Suck.
When it comes to not being able to sleep, that should be, no pun intended, a wake up call. It means your body is off and you need to get it back in order. Usually when your mind is restless, it's a sign that something is wrong. Over stressing could be the reason you're losing out on sleep and not sleeping makes for a crappy day. No one wants that so don't do it to yourself.
5. Breathe.
You're trying to do right by everyone except yourself. That's not okay. Because what ends up happening is yowls yourself in your work and you forget who you are. Thinking about what needs to be done is constantly on your mind and you overwhelm yourself and you forget to breathe. It is important to breathe.
Look. You don't have to worry about disappointing anyone because everyone is proud of you no matter what. Keep that in mind when you try to be there for EVERYONE. Take a moment to reflect and remember that you are only human.
