College is the best time of a young adult’s life. College is the time for students to explore their adult life without full responsibility. They have lots of responsibilities but not all of them. College students get to live on their own for the first time in their life. They get to meet new people, join new clubs, and learn new things. But the life of a college student is not always great. There are also hard parts about college. Some hard parts include: new sleep patterns, time management, homesickness, anxiety, and tuition.
A big adjustment some students have to make is their sleep pattern. In college, the work can be harder and days can be longer. Students in college have to make their own schedule and have to decide to go to bed on their own. There are some days that will comprise of more work and the student will have to stay up later to complete the work. The transition can be hard but is able to be done.
Time management is another struggle college students have to face. In college, students have to schedule their own courses. They have to make sure they have time for their activities, studying, and sleeping. Time management can be the hardest to overcome because students are used to preset schedules in high school. Time management can be a great learning experience for adulthood. Time management skills are useful in planning day to day plans and can be a useful skill in adulthood.
Many college students have a point in their college career that they experience homesickness. For many students, this is the reason they either switch schools or quit completely. Students that switch schools usually find schools that are closer to home so they don’t feel homesick any longer. They may even commute so they can live at home while they complete college. Homesickness can also cause students to suffer anxiety.
Another challenge that students have to work through is the anxiety. Many if not all students have to work through anxiety at some point during college. Sometimes it is the work load. Sometimes it is the busy schedule. Almost all students have to face this challenge at some point. Some find it unmanageable but de-stressing is part of the college experience. Many students that experience anxiety have to find their own way to work through the stress.
Tuition is another daily issue that college students have to think about. Tuition is one of the highest debts people will have to pay off in their life. Tuition is one of the biggest reasons students either don’t go to college or have to quit. The debt can become very large by the time students graduate.
College can be hard work and takes some getting used to but can be a great experience. College is time for students to find new friends and new interests. It more importantly is time for learning. College is the best and most important time of an adult’s life.
