I am that person that gets in the mood for Christmas/the Holidays the day after Halloween. All of the scary decorations come down, no more watching Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, or Halloweentown. In my mind and plenty of other people’s November 1st means it’s acceptable to get excited about the holidays and for some of us it means Christmas music! I’m not trying to offend people by putting up my Christmas decorations early, I know Thanksgiving is important. Believe me when I say I don’t forget about Thanksgiving, the warm mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing, squash, and boiled onions with yummy gravy poured over it. And my favorite part about Thanksgiving the night when you can make a sandwich with all of the things you just ate for Thanksgiving dinner squished between two slices of bread.
When I begin to decorate for Christmas in November it’s because those decorations are pretty and happy. Thanksgiving decorations have never stood out to me. So I am sorry but I will continue to listen to my Christmas music while I set up my Christmas decorations, and snuggle up in bed to watch my favorite Christmas movies way too early because that’s what makes me happy. But this doesn’t mean I am not thankful. I am thankful for:
- My family- I honestly have no idea what I would do without my crazy big family fighting, joking, laughing and everything in between.
- My dog- My dog is my baby and brings out so much happiness.
- College- I am thankful to be able to get an education and to be able to further my dreams.
- Good health- There are so many ill people out there struggling through something I can’t even begin to understand so I am very thankful to be in good health.
- Friends- My not blood related family, thank you for listening to my problems and still loving me as if I were your sister.
- Holidays- They bring a little more happiness than normal and sometimes a little more stress but I love every minute of it
- Troops- I am thankful that I get to live in freedom because of the people that sacrifice their lives for us everyday.
- Love- because it may be a little messed up in today’s generation but how boring would life be without it.
There are so many more things I am thankful for but from me to you, Happy Thanksmas!
