We all end up where we are suppose to be. Simple as that. But what the hard and confusing part is, is the path and journey we take to get where we are supposed to be.
I recently got into the viewpoints of others and the topic that was discussed was, what is a destination? Is it the big house and family you will acquire one day? Or, is it the dream job you have worked for and the purpose you serve during it? Or, is it just simply happiness? Can happiness be a destination? This question has been sitting on my mind this whole past week and I cannot stop thinking about it.
Why can't it be? Why can't happiness be a destination? Why is happiness never enough? Happiness leads us to what we do, what we see, what we learn, and what we experience every single day. We participate in an event because it makes us happy. We don't voluntarily do something because it makes us sad. All of us want to see something that makes us happy. We are constantly surrounded by negative news and sad occurrences that take place all over the world, but that makes us want to make happiness occur instead. We all want to learn and whether we know it or not, we constantly are, everyday. We want to learn things so we can make happiness occur in the right way. We learn about sad happenings but that makes us want to learn how to make them happy.
We are where we are because we chose to be happy. We attend the university we are attending, because it makes us happy. We are studying the field we are studying because it makes us happy to be interested in it. We are set out on a path and we have goals because the end result we are longing for will make us happy. And we surround ourselves with people who love us and who make us so incredibly full of happiness.
The crazy thing about life is, we don't always know what will make us happy. I think it is safe to say that the most unexpected and most rare things are what make us the happiest. We think we know what will make us happy, and most of the time it will, but what makes us even happier is all the occurrences that happen alongside the planned events.
So, the question is still there. Is happiness a destination? Happiness is the path you travel that leads you to your many destinations. You won't ever have one end point. Your life will take you on so many paths and I can guarantee that so may of them will cross one another. If you let happiness take over your life and if you let it lead you then you will reach destinations that make you happy. Happiness is so much more than just an emotion, but no matter what you are doing, you will always be chasing it and being lead by it but you can always achieve it.
