Why Everything Happens For A Reason

Every little detail in life has happened because it was supposed to.

One of my closest friends has always said that “everything happens for a reason.” Over the last few years, I have come to find this statement true. Every little detail in life has happened because it was supposed to. I have thought about this in my own life and how certain things wouldn’t have happened if another thing didn’t. Here are a couple of examples:

My parents met at a restaurant that my father had been working at. If my mother and her friends decided to eat at another restaurant then they would never have had met. Also what if my dad wasn’t working the night that they went in to eat. Would they have even met? What if she had met someone else in that time? If my parents hadn’t met in the time that they did and if my aunt and uncle didn’t meet at the time that they did, then my cousin and I wouldn’t have been as close. They met at the time that they did, making us be born at the perfect time, and since we are so close in age we became close friends. So if my cousin was born two years before me, then we might not has been best friends like we are now.

Another example is when my school closed down when I was in fourth grade. It was such a sad time for me and all of my friends would be attending a different school. Then something positive came out of it, I met Emily B. If my school never closed down, then I wouldn't have met such an amazing friend. Someone so important to me wouldn't be in my life today.

The first friend I met at my high school is the friend that always says this quote. The way we met is the best example and we use this story in many papers that it applies to. On the first day of school, we happened to walk in the exact same door while there are about six other ones either one of us could have walked into. We were also dropped off at the exact same time. What if I was five minutes late or what if she was five minutes early? The way we knew each other, was because of a person we had in common. If I never went to camp over the summer, then I wouldn't have had met Angie, who was Emily D's best friend. Then when I met Emily D., she wouldn't have known who I was and probably wouldn't have introduced herself. Emily and I also had many other friends in common. So, to make this more complicated, if my school hadn't closed down in the fourth grade, then my friends wouldn't have gone to Emily D's school. If they hadn't gone there, then Emily wouldn't have met them and known them. Once I met Emily D, we were able to become much closer friends because we knew mostly the same people.

It is just incredible how one second can change everything. We complain about running late but we don't know what could have happened if we did leave 5 minutes before. Now that I have actually thought about this quote, I see how every little thing affects other things. So the next time something bad happens I'll just think that this has to happen for something else to occur. Either good or bad, everything happens for a reason.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
