Hannah Montana has just recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and people still aren't over it! Why is that? Because Hannah Montana was the best show to grace Disney Channel. Of course Lizzie McGuire and That's So Raven will always hold a special place in my heart. But a new age was ushered in with the creation of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, High School Musical and Hannah Montana. Hannah Montana was the very best and here's why:
1. It was actually funny!
Have you heard what Disney tries to pass off for humor these days? I know it's meant for a younger generation, but did I find this kind of stuff funny when I was 10? I don't think so.
2. Billy Ray (Robbie Ray) was a realistic dad.
Okay, so most dads don't have to double as bodyguards, but his parenting skills were on point. And he was respectable. Most parental figures in television now are portrayed as either stupid or the enemy. I think Robbie Ray was a great father figure for children to see. He wasn't just a dad. He was a friend that knew how to make people laugh. Maybe the dynamic between him and Miley worked so well because they are actually related.
3. "Sweet Nibblets!"
You're lying if you claim you didn't start saying this is regular conversation.
4. It was the best of both worlds (for all of us)!
This wasn't just a show about a pop star. It was a show about a normal person like me being a pop star. Kids love that stuff! It's fun and relatable.
5. Lily and Oliver were best friend goals.
Miley, Lily, and Oliver were the perfect trio. They were always there for each other. And watching them grow up together was just precious. I must admit, I loved when Lily and Oliver dated.
6. Jackson.
Jackson added so much humor to the show and was the perfect older (yet not bigger) brother.
7. Rico was the best nemesis.
But I still can't roll my R's...
8. It was a real tear-jerker.
All the way to the end, Hannah Montana touched my heart. *sniffle*.
So congratulations Hannah Montana! You've survived in our memory for 10 years now! Here's to many more! And hopefully someday they'll put you back on Netflix for us to reflect and enjoy.
