Hangout ideas teens can actually do!

In the summer, I find myself making fun hangout ideas for all my friends and while sharing our plans I've realized that most teens need help on the idea front of planning a hanging out. Here's some fun hang out ideas that teens actually can do and that I've done with friends!

1) Trying out DIY crafts!

Now since I'm a crafty person I enjoy testing out fun DIYs that result in cute finished products to keep at home and or use. In the past my friend's and I have made tie dye shirts and this upcoming project is to make marble mugs using nail polish. As you can tell, these DIYs are cute and easy things to do with friends and leaves everyone with a little gift.

2) Go to the park/picnic in the park!

As cliche as this sounds, the park is nice option to hang out with friends on a nice summer day. Parks allow teens to play sport, talk, walk around, bike, take beautiful Instagram-worthy pictures and also have a nice picnic. Having a picnic is a nice way to enjoy a meal with your friends in a very classic and iconic way. Also, you all can decide to bring a plate to the picnic and bust out any interesting recipes!

3) Carpool!

I know what you're thinking, "How can carpooling be the same as a hang out?" but listen to this! Since you're going to the same event or place as your buddy that means you two can hang out before the event getting ready at each other's houses! Or on the way to or after events you all can grab a bite to eat or the occasional coffee or fast food run.

4) Have an outdoor movie night!

This is easier than it looks! All anyone would need is a white sheet and to make a DIY projector using a phone, magnifying glass, and shoe box, but projectors are also easy to find online. Then you can get as creative as you like and really snazz up any backyard.

5) At home Spa day!

Most girls have the general spa mask, face scrub, and nail polish in their vanity or bathroom. While it's nice to pamper yourself on occasion, it's even more fun with your friend, being able to relax and go bare faced trying out new spa day creations.

6) Try new things together!

Usually everyone has that one ambitious friend who wants to try everything. That friend is finally useful, because now you both can try different activities together! Volunteer work , joining a sports team, joining a club, applying for the same job is all more fun when you have a familiar face to see and can relate to.

7) Do school work together!

Everyone hates school work, why ruin your day worrying about school? Except when you study or do a project, homework, etc. with friends, it's always a little better. Especially since both of you can bounce off each other with what each of you know on the topic because may be one of you didn't retain or understand the subject as well as the other.

8) Go out to eat with friends!

Every waiter is different, some are cute, some take long to deliver your order, some are rude, funny, weird and with friends, it makes your dining experience much more entertaining. Suddenly your waiter becomes the topic for all discussion and the debate over the amount of tip hangs in the air undecided. The food is a constant weight in the balance whether it'll taste good or not and the ever so worry if the waiter spit in your food.

9) Watch movies!

No, watching a movie is not only for dates! Watching a movie with friends at home or at the cinema is just as fun with friends as a date. Popcorn tastes great, movies are entertaining or boring but both cause a conversation on the ever-so-anticipated movie.

10) Shop!

Shopping with friends is the most common known activity and so it had to be included! First off, shopping is fun with a group becuase it gives you a second opinion and makes walking in the mall an exicting group chit chat!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
