My best friends and I aren't very big on the party scene, and they aren't too keen about drinking either. This doesn't mean we don't know how to have fun. Look no further for all your non-alcoholic happy time needs!
1. Youtubing
I'm not talking about watching youtube. I mean vlogging for each other. This works best if you go out of town without your friends or they couldn't make it to an event. Not to mention it's the modern day photo album. Nothing is more fun than going back and watching old videos my friends and I filmed and edited of our time together or apart.
2. Grocery Shopping
This should be a no brainer, but if you haven't done it, I highly encourage some platonic grocery shopping time. These work best if it's followed by a sleepover. Then everyone helps pick out all the worst junk food, push the cart to fast down the aisles, and actually learn to adult together.
3. Park Hopping
Think bar hopping, but without the bar and the costs. You literally get in free. All you need to do is have a vehicle and a license, then go driving around to different parks after dark. This tends to be my favorite past time because there's no kids out after 10pm. You don't have to be mindful of children as you swing higher than any 10 year old.
4. Target Trips
This is not the same as grocery shopping. I refuse to even see the comparison. Hear me out, you don't go into Target looking to buy things you need. You go into Target to browse and pretend to pick out bedding with your friends two hours before closing. This is how you pre-game before park hopping.
5. Late Night Coffee & Ice Cream Runs
Staying up late is a part of the best friend code. As human beings we feel hunger and thirst for specific food products that just so happen to be caffeinated and sugary.
6. Movie Nights
Just marathon everything and anything you want. Scary movies are a favorite between my friends and I. One of my besties has even purchased a projector and held a Star Wars Marathon night just to catch me up before the new movie came out (what a Queen).
7. Water Gun/Nerf Gun Wars
If you don't fake going to war everyone once in awhile, can you even say you're really friends? This is all the shenanigans you could ever hope for, AND you get to stab your friend in the back in this game.
8. Hide and Go Seek in the Dark
Once again, everything is better at night once you're an adult. No one can judge you in the darkness if they can't see you. Everyone gets a flashlight, so this is definitely safe. Please make sure you know the area you play in though. It's fun if you also try this Marco Polo style.
9. Gaming
Everyone does this one, but it still deserves to make the list because it's a classic. It can be video games, arcades, board games, card games, etc. Just pick your poison and throw down. I recommend Just Dance and Scrabble as personal favorites. Cards Against Humanity if your feeling a little nasty.
That's about it for me! If you have any hangout activities you recommend then let me know in the comments! I'm always looking for ways to keep my friendships fresh.
