Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. Ever. Here are 10 reasons why Halloween is by far, the best holiday to celebrate.

1. Halloween Decorations

From pumpkins, to skeletons, to the really gory stuff, and to all the cute stuff, the decorations are backbone to the holiday. It’s so much fun to be able to decorate your house in all the spooky decorations.

2. The Food

I’m talking pumpkin pie, candy corn, caramel apples, anything Autumn related is perfect to help celebrate Halloween. They’re delicious and it gets you right in the Halloween spirit.

3. Halloween Music

There definitely isn’t as much Halloween music as Christmas music. But what Halloween does have, is some pretty awesome and spooky tunes. Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Rock Horror Picture Show’s Time Warp, and the Ghostbusters theme song, just to name a few.

4. Dressing Up

Halloween is the one day a year you can dress up as anything or anyone you want and no one will even question you. Dress up as something funny, something scary, or your favorite character, whatever you want to be.

5. Free Candy

Free candy. I don’t think you need anymore explanation on that one.

6. Halloween Movies

From really scary movies like Halloween (all 4 parts), or to really cheesy Disney Channel Original movies like HalloweenTown and Twitches, Halloween movies are definitely one of the best parts of celebrating.

7. Conquering Your Fears

I’ll admit it, I’m not big on jump scares. But that’s what Halloween is all about, conquering your fears. Halloween is the only time of year where I’m okay with watching jump scares because it puts you in the right mindset for Halloween.

8. Pumpkin Carving

Carving pumpkins into Jack-O-Lanterns is a great tradition that is sure to get into the Halloween spirit. It’s a bit messy while cleaning out the pumpkin seeds, but the end result is completely worth it. Plus you can design whatever you want your Jack-O-Lantern to be. A scary face, a funny face, or a design all your own.

9. Arts-And-Crafts Galore

Halloween is a perfect time to break out all your arts-and-crafts skills. It’s a perfect excuse to put all those DIY videos you’ve seen into action. Use all of your arts-and-craft skills on making your own costume, or maybe you want to make all your decorations? Either way, Halloween is filled with perfect DIY excuses.

10. It's A Holiday Unlike Any Other

Seriously, what other holiday do you know of where you get to dress up and go around knocking on stranger’s doors for free candy?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
