Hallo-weekend. The weekend of all weekends. The streets are packed with costumes, from the classic cheetah to Caitlyn Jenner to nuns and many more. The party scene is out of control and the bars are packed. Yes, it seems like the college dream. But in my opinion, this is my least favorite weekend at college.
Why?
1. I’m not creative.
I can’t come up with that funny costume that makes everyone say “Wow, that’s incredible!” I’m not super into being scary. I’ve been very skittish about scary movies and haunted houses since I watched the first "Harry Potter" on my fifth birthday. That was enough to send me home, bawling my eyes out and with relentless nightmares. Yes, I’ll admit, I am a scardy-cat. I’m also not the girl who wants to wear the skimpiest outfit just to get some attention from the horny fraternity boys on their usual prowl.
2. I am not the biggest candy person.
If you give me a bag of Reece’s peanut butter cups, I’ll be set. Other than that, I don’t really care for consuming a handful of Snickers, Butterfingers, Soar Patch kids, etc. I promise you, I honestly have never liked the taste of candy.
So call me the Mr. Scrooge of Halloween. Maybe it’s in my genetics. I don’t really know, but I really can’t help but to hate Hallo-weekend.
