Seven Hairstyles And What They Say About You

You can tell a lot about a person by whether they wear braids or a ponytail.

Seven Hairstyles And What They Say About You

If there is one thing that I am certain of as a young woman, it’s that your hair says a lot about the kind of day you are having. To friends and strangers alike it’s like a beacon that helps them prepare for communication with you. Is it a good day or a lazy day? Here is a little guide to help you along the way:

1. Messy bun

You got out of bed 10 minutes before class and had to sprint to make it on time. Hey, we’re just lucky that you actually came to class today in the first place. You don’t have time for hair today. It gets in your eyes, mouth, everywhere. Good thing you have nowhere special to be. As women, we have a lot of respect for this hairstyle, because it can be done in seconds, and so long as you are conscious, there is a lot you can accomplish with this hairstyle. There is a bright light in sight, though; you’ll probably go back home and take a nap later.

2. Pony tail

Look outside. Is the sky a gloomy shade of gray? If you live anywhere near the Northeast or Midwest, then the answer is most likely yes. Today, you woke up, and weren’t having any of that. You pulled it up and went on your way. Or maybe you are planning on working out later. In that case, then good for you! This is the go-to hairstyle of the working woman. In college, we are already juggling enough, we don’t want to constantly be making sure that our hair is still together.

3. Pig tails

Take those out right now.

4. Pinterest Hairdo

We’ve all been there--poking around on Pinterest, looking for something new to spice up your style game. You finally find something that looks manageable, probably something that could be described as "romantic," if we're being totally honest. After a couple of attempts, you realized that it this whole "styling" thing is not quite as easy the tutorial had you believing, and most would give up here. You didn’t, though; you held through. Practice makes perfect, and that’s just the kind of mentality you have today. Feel free to take some risks.

5. Braid(s)

You’re channeling your inner Katniss. You felt the need to try today, but not too hard, because there are more important things to do. Got a group project to do? You’re ready to take on the chaos. How about a paper due in two hours? You’re on it. It’s time to get some serious work done after all that procrastination, and you’re ready to take it on, one task at a time. We all wish you luck.

6. Loose curls

You had a lot of free time this morning, good lookin’. Got a hot date tonight? Or maybe you just woke up early for some god forsaken reason. Either way, you’re planning on a good day. Also, if you try and tell anyone that is natural, then hold your tongue; we know it’s not. However, we respect the time that you took to create those beauties.

7. Nothing

Woke up to a decent hair day? Awesome, you’ll take it. It may not be the most exciting hairstyle ever, but at least it’s socially acceptable to show in public. You have a positive outlook today and want to give an excessive amount of compliments. Today probably won’t be anything outside the ordinary. You never know, though, maybe you’ll be surprised.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
