I got hooked on ABC's hit series of reality TV this past season of "The Bachelor." Ben Higgins' journey to find love was wildly entertaining. So, naturally, I decided to watch "The Bachelorette." How could I not watch Jojo Fletcher for a second time? Basically, an impossible task to ignore her. There's a lot of talk that she could potentially be the most attractive Bachelorette of all time. I have done literally zero research to back this claim up, but she definitely is.
So, obviously this isn't a very "manly" show. It might be kind of frowned upon for males to enjoy watching this type of show. Filled with love and emotion. I mean, if you're a real man's man, do you even have emotions? Do you even feel love? Well, I'm here to break that mold. This is a MUST-WATCH television show. At least for now.
Alright, let's be real. Is this show in the business of making people fall in love, or is it in the business or entertainment? If you seriously believe that ABC's series is around solely to facilitate two people falling in love, I'd call you crazy. Yes, that's how they market their show, and they aren't completely wrong, but you don't broadcast this type of thing on television if you aren't trying to entertain. That's just a fact. Television is around to simply entertain us. So if you're a guy and you're thinking, "No way would I ever want to watch a show about people falling in love. That's boring." You're wrong. Trust me, it wouldn't be on television if there wasn't an entertainment factor.
(Side note: Is it just me or does ABC allow that one crazy person to end up on the show each year? First Olivia and now Chad? Really backs up my theory about entertainment, huh.)
Another deterrent some of you males might have towards this show is the fact that a majority of the excitement in this show comes from being able to go through the process with the Bachelorette and "help" her choose her eventual hubby. Now, if you're a guy, this is probably just too much, right? I mean, this means you'd have to judge other guys, and seriously think about whether or not you could see Jojo with them for the rest of her life. Isn't this gay? Isn't being gay not cool?
Well, first of all, if you're still homophobic in 2016 then you need a reality check or you need to teleport like 50 years in the past. Secondly, no it does not make you gay if you judge another man's character, physical attributes, and potential partner ability. Especially if it's for a woman. You'd do this for your sister if she brought home a boy, you're doing it now for an entertainment value. If you're not comfortable enough in your own skin to say, "Holy shit Chad is ripped." then I am seriously questioning you as a person.
Honestly, those are really the only qualms I think anyone can have with this show. That it's too emotionally charged and that it makes them feel gay. Well, I just fixed both of those issues so now you can watch this great show in peace.
Also it really is must-watch television, especially this season with the amount of douchebags that are on this show. They all have the same haircut, Chad is going to actually murder someone, there have been multiple stories about the contestants having a sketchy past with their ex (cc: Jordan, Robby), and Jojo is super lenient with what they can get away with. Oh, and I LOVE James Taylor. So really, check it out. You'll be doing yourself a favor.
