The high rate of crime occurring in the United States of America in result is gun wounds. Legislation has issued new methods that would regulate gun control. This seems a legit route to take especially when innocent individuals are losing their lives every day.
There is the whole issue with police brutality where some of the officers abuse their authority resulting in incidents that could have been prevented. The real issue is the purchasing of illegal firearms making it hard to connect a crime with the gun owner.
However, these lawmakers are creating it hard for regular citizens to have the ability to defend themselves from criminals. In the second amendment it gives a citizen the right to bear arms in order for protection.
Majority of the crimes being committed in the streets are from those who are purchasing firearms illegally. By implementing these stricter gun laws it makes the average citizen a much tougher time in getting approved for a firearm permit.
At the age of nineteen I am currently unable to apply for my permit because in the state of New York you must be 21 years of age. Crimes these days are mainly in result of arguments that could have been resolved in a much less violent action.
The main focus on these new laws trying to control gun violence is absolutely impossible. When you think of all the crimes occurring in your neighborhood the police rarely find the shooter and when they do for most cases the gun is not registered if it was not decomposed already. Overall by adding these new laws it would make citizens unable to obtain a permit making those who illegally purchase firearms well armed compared to the average person.
In my perspective gun control is not going to be beneficial because it would not create stop guns from going into the wrong hands. Without stopping the illegal selling and purchasing of firearms there is no real way of stopping all the crimes with connections with guns.
This can closely be related to the drug problem our world faces. By issuing a greater sentence for possession of drugs will not necessarily diminish the amount of drug users. The conclusion of this argument is to realize that there will always be gun problem in this country because of how easy they are to apprehend, and no additional regulations will impact this because no crimes are occurring with legal gun owners.
