Picture this: the smell of coffee tickles the tip of your nose as you make your way through the crowded library looking for a place to abandon your soul and begin writing this research paper. You look around and make eye contact with another student buried beneath layers of panic and stress, eyes red from sleeplessness. Together you take a deep breath, exhale, and shoot a prayer up to the heavens above, knowing it's going to take a real miracle to make it out of the semester in one piece. Continuing your walk through the sea of MacBooks and textbooks, you cannot help but think about how happy you used to be, how you used to have a life outside these pastel-colored walls and tear-stained chairs. Nevertheless, despite your urge to drop everything and move to a far away country, you sit yourself down at a perfect corner table - your new home for the next 48 hours.

If you're like me and you're ready to jump off the high dive and belly flop into a pool of articles and research, then follow these steps to help you tread the waters.

Tell your family and friends you love them.

Step one is very important.

You are about to spend hours reading through countless exciting, and not at all boring, articles - your loved ones deserve to know what you are putting yourself through. In case you don't make it out of the library with your sanity intact, let your parents know to engrave, 'college was worth it' on your gravestone.

Borrow an IV drip from your nearest hospital.

Once you are completely settled into that Ikea quality desk chair, it's time to bring out your life force. What you have to do is take an IV bag and fill it with espresso, then carefully insert the IV into your arm. Once the caffeine begins to flow through your body, you can proceed to log into your computer and write the title page of your research paper.

Snacks, snacks, and other such distractions.

As you are most likely aware at this point, the key to writing any good research paper is to load your body up to the max with energy. Snacks will be your best friend, and they will do a perfect job at distracting you from the horror of articles and databases. There's no crying and being stressed out when you're too distracted with counting the amount of Oreos that can fit in your mouth at once.

Queue in the entertainment.

After hours of research and writing, it is important to take a mental break from the one sentence you have written and direct your attention towards a brainless activity. This may include watching Netflix or falling down a deep YouTube rabbit hole. Not only will you give yourself a new will to live, but maybe you'll finally get that last push to quit college and become a full-time vlogger.

Try again later.

You did your best, but writing these research papers is just too unbearable. I suggest grabbing all your belongings and making your way out of the library to go take a nice, well-deserved, nap at home. Don't worry, the library will still be there 24 hours become the due date.

After you follow these easy and quick steps, proudly pick yourself up from where you've been studiously working away and head on home. You deserve some rest and relaxation!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
