Having some trouble understanding college, fitting in, or just having mixed feelings about college in general? I went through the same thing and being a sophomore, almost junior, I've come up with a list of things you need to know from A-Z. Read over this list and take my advice, you wont regret it.

A: Academics. The main reason you're at college! The thing about this is, if you fail a test it won't be the end of your life. Stop stressing and focus on yourself once in a while. (But still study).

B: Bad Influences. Sometimes your friends will try to make you go out the night before a big presentation or exam -- don't go. I've learned this one from experience, going out the night before a mandatory 9 a.m. is never a good idea.

C: Coffee. All the free coffee you can get your hands on -- take it. It's what is going to get you through those tough mandatory morning classes especially when you didn't take my last advice and went out the night before.

D: Dogs. Chances are as a lower classmen, you aren't allowed to have pets in your dormitory buildings. Whenever you're walking through campus, stop and pet the puppies (with owner permission first), it can be really therapeutic.

E: Eating. You will gain some weight in college. You would think that since you walk everywhere you would maintain your high school weight, but I promise you that is NOT the case.

F: Family. Make sure to call them once in a while, they really do miss you even though it seems like they don't sometimes. Call your parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters and anyone else that is a big part of your life. They'll be ecstatic you did.

G: Groveling. Sometimes when finals week creeps up on us and it's time to bring that 68% up to a 90%, you will be emailing your professor and groveling for extra credit assignments. Some professors will be nice and give it and others won't. Be careful to read the syllabus before emailing.

H: Health. Not just your physical health (which you should be going to the gym more than once a semester), but your mental health too. Don't overwork yourself. It's easy in college to sign up for too many extracurricular activities. Manage your time effectively so you can work, study, have a social life, and still have a little time for yourself.

I: Internships. Even if you are a high school student or freshman reading this, the time will creep up on you so fast. Make your resume stand out and maybe take an interviewing class. Better yourself as a professional so you aren't in an interview with a blank resume.

J: Joining organizations. Just go to the meetings and participate. Again with the blank resume. There are so many organizations on your college's campus and if you do not find one you like, you can create one!

K: Knowing stuff. Just like the little song we all use to sing as kids, "We go to college to get more knowledge." Focus on studying and sharpen that brain!

L: Lazy Days. These are important! Take time for yourself every once in a while, especially if you are sick. Nobody wants someone steady coughing in lecture.

M: Money. Sadly you won't have any of this unless you work or your parents take care of you. My mom sends me $20 every once in a while for laundry, but that is about it.

N: Naps. These are the best thing about college. If you have a break between classes you can just go nap! And you'll always see someone napping on the benches or on campus napping because they didn't want to walk all the way home.

O: Opportunities. These come crawling out of the cracks left and right. Stay focused and you will get all kinds of opportunities thrown right at you.

P: Parties. That is probably the second reason you came to college besides academics. Just make sure you put your work first then party your little heart out!

Q: Questions. If you have a question when sitting in a lecture, just ask it. There a high probability that someone else in the room has the same question as you.

R: Roommates. Sometimes they are loud when you are trying to sleep, but they can also be someone to vent to when you don't feel like calling home or annoying your friends.

S: School Spirit. Be loud and proud about your school! You chose to go there so you obviously love it. Make that known!

T: Time Management. This is so important in college and it is definitely a skill you need. Focus on making enough time in the day for everything instead of spending all your time in one place doing one thing.

U: Undecided. It is okay to be undecided about your major! Take all kinds of classes from all kinds of aspects of life and you will figure it out, don't panic.

V: Very Tired. Let's just face the facts, there is not enough coffee in the world to keep you awake in your 7 a.m. It is OK to miss a class but don't miss too often or you'll just be wasting your money and time.

W: Waiting. Waiting for those grades to be released after the semester is over probably has you jumping out of your skin or waiting for someone to drop out of a class you so you can get off the wait list.

X: XOXO. Don't focus on finding the love of your life, that day will come for you. Your 20's are for being selfish and focusing on you.

Y: Yuck! Your roommate won't take the trash out for a few days and your room WILL start to stink. Make sure you take that trash out!

Z: ZZZZZZ. Catch that sleep bug! Sometimes its okay to sleep! Don't pull all-nighters every night! Sleep is most definitely not for the weak.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
